Several Flash MX books are starting to appear in local bookstores.  For the intermediate to advanced user of  Flash 5 and ActionScript  I highly recommend Macromedia Flash MX - Upgrade Essentials by Sham Bhangal, friends of ED, 2002.

Flash MX was released on March 15, 2002. Go to the Macromedia site at http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/ for more information and to download the free Flash 6 player.

As usual the Macromedia Flash manual, Using Flash MX, is brief, condensed, incomplete, and not written for a beginner. If you are just beginning to learn Flash, the Flash MX Help menu includes Lessons, Tutorials, and Samples that may help you until better books on Flash MX are published.
