If you started learning Flash 5 recently, you now face the question as whether to keep working with Flash 5 or update to Flash MX. At this point I'm still exploring the additions to ActionScript in the MX version so all I can suggest is keep any Flash 5 books that you have, but plan to update to Flash MX within the next few months as Flash MX books become available. A useful Flash 5 ActionScript book for beginners that I have looked at recently is Flash ActionScript: Your visual blueprint for creating Flash-enhanced Web sites by Denise Etheridge, Hungry Minds, 2002. Once you have worked with this for a while then move on to ActionScript - The Definitive Guide by Colin Moock, O'Reilly & Associates, 2001. |
